Annals of Animation

Which devices or films are you most intrigued by?      The short film "How Animated Cartoons Are Made" by Wallace Carlson was the most interesting to me, since it walked through some of the process of animation.   Which techniques from this list do you still feel are relevant to contemporary art or design?      "How Animated Cartoons Are Made" has some examples of how the animation process works, and I would Imagine that many of the principles are still very similar to how they function today. Static backgrounds would not need to be redrawn constantly; only redrawing the element that moves, such as a person, would be much more efficient. Have you experienced any similar or related works?        There are a few early animations I've seen. The ones that come to mind are Mighty Mouse and Mutt and Jeff.
